Eye-Rec

Privacy notice & consent

• Your webcam video is processed only inside this browser by WebGazer.js. It is never recorded, stored or uploaded.
• No video, photos or face images leave your device. What is stored is pseudonymous: it is linked to a code, not to your name, but it still counts as personal data under the GDPR. Your teacher can see your results under your code. The information sheet, available from your teacher, explains your rights.
• To find your eyes, the software locates face landmark points in each frame inside your browser. These points are used only to compute where you look; they are never saved, never sent anywhere, and no face image or face template is created.
• This session runs an accuracy experiment: six numbers describing your head position and tilt (not your face) are additionally used, again only inside your browser, to keep the gaze estimate steady when you move. They are never stored or transmitted.
• This session is part of a research measurement: if you use the camera, also saved, as plain numbers only, are the results of the accuracy check (how far and how steadily the gaze estimate lands from the dots), the screen scale (pixels per cm) and viewing distance (cm) used to convert them — measured in the optional screen set-up, otherwise assumed — and the names of the tracking and calibration method used.
• Saved for everyone, under your code (the S-number shown above or the personal code your teacher gave you): your answers, the time per question, your start and finish time, your browser and operating system, browser language, window size and zoom level, and where the question and answer boxes were on your screen. Only if you use the camera, also: where on the screen you looked (plain x/y numbers), how accurate the eye tracking was and which tracking settings were used (in some classes these settings are compared at random), and camera details (model name, resolution, frame rate, one overall lighting number).
• The quiz runs in fullscreen. Leaving fullscreen, switching to another tab or window, and trying to copy or right-click are logged with the time (copying and right-clicking are also blocked).
• Your results, linked to your code but never to your name or image, may be used for scientific research on learning and teaching.

Mock mode is on: the camera stays disabled and gaze is simulated from your mouse position.
